3rd ESC Sarge Michael Behlin, LTC Clay Wienecke, Hollie and Greg 2/5/2010
Hooah's From Balad, Iraq

Major Chad Nangle out of the G3 Plans shop works with LTC Greenwich.
He's big on working
to identify units that are excessive and are no longer needed in the country
due to the drawdown of forces. So he's an interesting guy to talk with.
Major Nangle is very proud of his family. He's married to Melissa and
they have two boys, Jake and Dustin and a little girl, Cassie. His son
just graduated from Fort Knox High School and his second son will graduate
in 2010. He enjoys playing the guitar and learning fun songs for his
little girl. Major Nangle and his wife have lived in six different states
over the last eighteen years. He can't wait to come home and spend time
with his kids!
Our
Hooah of the Week is LTC Alex Greenwich. He works in the G3 future operations
and planning section. He and his family reside at Fort Knox. Col.
Higdon, also with the G3, keeps him pretty busy juggling between five and
six planning efforts at any given time. He also plays an important role
in planning and executing the convoy security training efforts in Kuwait.
This training helps keep our soldiers safe when they travel. LTC Greenwich
can't wait to come home to be with his wife and kids!
Our
Hooah of the Week is Major Wayne McCormick. He loves to run in his free
time and has logged over a thousand miles since he deployed to Iraq.
He joined the military out of high school because of the great impression
he got from Jr. ROTC. MAJ McCormick works in the G7 facility engineering
section. He's been super busy with all the construction projects he plans,
tracks and oversees in Balad and other FOBs. Wayne was instrumental in getting
a new building constructed for COL Provancha's support operations division.
The have much improved working conditions now thanks to his efforts. He has
a wife and son in Fort Knox. (06/26/09)
Our Hooah of the Week
is Captain Brian Pilch. He's been serving as a soldier for seventeen
years. He joined the military right out of high school because he wanted
to travel and see the world. His first assignment was as a military
policeman. He has been highly promoted since then! He now works
for 3rd ESC General Lally in HQ. He can't wait to see his wife of fifteen
years, Megan, and his four kids when he comes home from Iraq. (06/05/09)
Our
Hooah of the Week is Major Carl Rhoades. He's one of those smart guys!
Major Rhoades is an IT specialist and Greg tried to get our computer fixed....but
it was a no go. Major Rhoades can't wait to get home to his lovely wife
Teresa and his two kids, Cameron and Lily in Elizabethtown. This Hooah
of the Week marked the one year anniversary of the 3rd ESC's deployment to
Iraq. We can't wait until they come home! (05/29/09)

Our Hooah Of The Week is Sgt. Charles (Chuck) Hibbs, he works as a senior paralegal for the 3rd ESC. This is his second deployment. He grew up in Louisville and Madisonville, Kentucky. His wife Teresa lives in Louisville.
He's a UK AND UofL fan! Imagine that! When he's not working he goes to school (BS in Legal Studies with the University of Maryland) and rooting for the Lakers.
Friday we talked to PFC James Garvin with the 3rd ESC. This is his first
tour. At twenty-one years old, he's a long way from his home in Denham
Springs, Louisiana! Garvin works in Human Resources for the Army and
processes awards for thousands of soldiers. He feels that his job helps
the morale of his fellow soldiers. When Garvin's not working, he's working
out! He pumps iron and enjoys Ju Jitsu and goes to school in his free
time. Garvin is the first in his family to serve in the military.
It was great to talk with Force Manager Major Jeff Wagstaff. His job
is fast paced and his days are long but his attitude is positive! He
attends Heritage Int'l Church and encourages youth to follow Christ.
This is his second deployment to Iraq. He can't wait to get home to
his wife Chevelle and his two kids Jeffrey and Maya.
It was great to talk with Col. Jerry Reeves. He's a soldier, father,
husband and second in command of the 3rd ESC in Balad. He's also a proud
Georgia boy who married a beautiful Louisvillian and can't wait to see his
family in August!
It was great to talk with mom and soldier Col. Denise McClure A.K.A. "CHOPS". She's working hard to sustain the line. She loves and misses her two sons Shawn and Steven and can't wait to come home and see them! "CHOPS" doesn't get a lot of down time (as you can see in the picture) so she has to grab and go. She has a great sense of humor, despite the seriousness of her job in Iraq. We can't wait until "CHOPS" comes home.
It
was great to talk with mom and soldier PFC Caprice Walker. Her husband
and children live in Vine Grove, while PFC Walker gets in mail in Iraq.
She's a devoted mom, helping her daughter pick out a prom dress through email
and waking her kids up every day for school with a phone call. She can't
wait to come home for her daughter's graduation from North Hardin.
On
Good Friday we talked with Chaplin Wilbert Harrison about his job as an encouragerer
to our soldiers. Chaplin Harrison assists teachers in suicide prevention
education for troops and strives to meet the spiritual needs of our soldiers.
His wife lives on Fort Knox and is looking forward to his return.
